ABOUT

Frenetic Toys is the independent production studio of Canadian artist and former professional animator Mykil Frenetic.

Mykil is the only person behind Frenetic Toys—and he makes every toy himself. From the original character design and prototype to mould-making, casting, assembly, painting, finishing, packaging and photography, nothing is handed to employees or outsourced to a manufacturer. Every production figure is made one at a time in Canada to the standard of a professionally manufactured collectible.

Although Mykil personally creates and produces every figure, Frenetic Toys has never been a journey taken entirely alone. His wife has supported the studio from the beginning—believing in the work, helping make its growth possible and remaining its biggest fan. Her support has been an essential part of everything Frenetic Toys has accomplished.

Frenetic Toys grew from Mykil's lifelong obsession with toys, character design and imaginary worlds. His background in animation still shapes the way he works: every figure begins as a character, and every character belongs somewhere larger.

One of the studio's earliest production projects was a Dusted release featuring Marlon Monster as guest designer. Marlon supplied a simple 2D character drawing, which Mykil substantially redesigned and developed into a fully realized three-dimensional production toy. Soon afterward, Mykil's original Wrong Robbies were shown at Five Points Fest through Stormy Vault, bringing his work to an international designer-toy audience.

Frenetic Toys went on to receive national coverage from CBC Arts, which explored Mykil's detailed figure-making process and the personal role that creating toys has played in his life.

Another important early accomplishment was the studio's participation in a Token Toys exhibition, where Frenetic Toys figures remained on public display for several months. Along with the Five Points Fest showing and CBC Arts feature, the exhibition helped establish Frenetic Toys beyond its local audience and recognized the figures as both professional toy production and a distinct artistic practice.

Today, Frenetic Toys is home to several original toy worlds. TEW AMERICAN draws from 1980s low-brow illustration, retro science fiction, MAD-style artwork and the strange mythology of North American toys. Its first official release, Echo Receiver, was produced as a hand-cast and hand-painted limited edition of ten, while the Wrong Robbies later found their natural home within the same world.

Kapital Krushers is the studio's monster line, beginning with Kaiju Larvae and expanding with Splug, a large articulated demon-bug figure with holographic eyes and two-colour glow-in-the-dark elements. In 2026, Mykil produced 32 Splugs across four editions, including a Flying Cat × Frenetic Toys exclusive for the Taipei Toy Festival. The collaboration marked Frenetic Toys' first major international production order and brought figures designed and made entirely in Mykil's Canadian studio to collectors overseas.

Other worlds in development include StarWilds / EvoRim, The Nudia Clones and Mechaivellians, each with its own characters, visual language and mythology.

Frenetic Toys does not sell 3D prints as finished toys. Digital tools may be used to develop prototypes and masters, but every production release is moulded, hand cast, assembled, painted and finished by Mykil himself.

This is a real one-person production studio built around original characters, exacting standards and an unreasonable love of toys.

Hand cast. Hand painted. Made one at a time.
